"Every man has a different idea of what's beautiful, and it's best to take the gesture, the shadow of the branch, and let the mind create the tree."

   —William Faulkner

Creativity Exercise — Minimalism and Music

First, buy yourself some spring flowers!

Choose a bloom. In the least amount of words, gestures, pen strokes, paint strokes (Chinese Calligraphy?), baking dough/recipe, music, describe the essence of your blossom. Do you start in a ball and unfurl? Do you do the Tree in yoga?

Music: Listen to Vivaldi's Spring from The Four Seasons OR Spring from Glazunov, or even Stravinski's Rite of Spring, and CREATE! What did the music move you to do? What was the underlying emotion you felt? Will you be able to capture this moment again when you hear the music again?

Affirmation

Each new day and new season is like Spring, bringing the promise of creativity and a creative life, and I have the opportunity to grow from seed to full bloom.
