Creativity Exercise

Halloween

Childhood. Gods and Demons. Heros and Monsters. Corn stalks and candy. Falling leaves. Aspen gold.

Those are the first few ideas that come to me when I think of October.

Exercise 1:
What are the first ideas that come to you when you hear October? Which of these have you never explored? Take the concept, gather inspiration from the crisp autumn (or spring) air and create!

Exercise 2:
If you don't want to explore your own memories, take a word or two from the above list and run with it! (Football anyone?) Everyone in the world would create something unique from the same concept.

Exercise 3:
Switch mediums! Carve a Pumpkin! When was the last time you hefted a pumpkin?
Felt the cool smoothness of it? Remembered the smell as you opened it up? Toasted home-roasted pumpkin seeds or pumkin pie or Mom's pumpkin-peanut muffins?

Affirmation

I have recovered my childlike joy and delight in this season of the year and every
falling leaf (or blossoming tree) gives me new inspiration.
