Free Your Artist
"When I say artist I mean the man who is building things creating molding the earth -- whether it be the plains of the west -- or the iron ore of Penn. It's all a big game of construction -- some with a brush -- some with a shovel -- some chose a pen."

   —Jackson Pollock

Creativity Exercise - Earth

The potter and the sculptor and the baker work with earth all the time. The
rest of us may not consider the consistency and variation of “earth.”

When you think of earth what is the first thing that comes to mind? Dark
turned earth ready for planting? The planet floating in space? A crystal? A cave?

Have you ever explored the concept of earth and/or what it means to you in
your art? Those who use colors, have you done weavings, decoupage, furniture, paintings in earth-tones? Try it.

Those who dance or write think about a simple or a complex piece you can
create that is the essence of earth to you.

What does earth-tones mean to you? Colors? Music? How would you write in
earth tones? Dance if you were made of earth?
